Dr. Todd Kingston

Biography

Dr. Todd Kingston is a Building a World of Difference Faculty Fellow in Engineering and Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU).  He is also an affiliate of the Center for Multiphase Flow Research and Education (CoMFRE) and the Electric Power Research Center (EPRC) at ISU.  Prior to joining the faculty at ISU in 2020, Dr. Kingston was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C.  Dr. Kingston received his Ph.D. in 2019 from Purdue University and M.S. and B.S. from Iowa State University in 2013 and 2011, respectively, all in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on thermal sciences.  His research interests include multiphase thermal-fluid transport, thermal management, energy transfer and conversion, microfluidics boiling heat transfer, and thermo-electrochemical phenomena in Li-ion batteries.  His teaching includes undergraduate courses on fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Kawkab Ahasan

Kawkab is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Todd Kingston and Prof. Pranav Shrotriya.  Prior to joining ISU, Kawkab received a Master of Science from Washington State University in 2020 and a Bachelor of Science from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2016, both in Mechanical Engineering.  

Mahdi Ishtiaque

Mahdi is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University.  Prior to joining ISU, Mahdi received a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2018.  

Sam De Penning

Sam is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Pranav Shrotriya and Prof. Todd Kingston.  Sam received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Dordt University in 2021, prior to joining ISU.  

Nick Schnoebelen

Nick is a MS student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Todd Kingston and Prof. Pranav Shrotriya. Immediately prior to joining the ISU ME Graduate Program, Nick received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from ISU in Fall 2020.  

Shantanu Datar​

Shantanu is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University.  Prior to joining ISU, Shantanu received a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology in 2019.  

Sadiqul Islam

Sadiqul is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Todd Kingston and Prof. Pranav Shrotriya. Prior to joining ISU, Sadiqul received a Master of Science from Washington State University in 2022 and a Bachelor of Science from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2017, both in Mechanical Engineering.
