Workshop on Complex Fluid Systems
Iowa State University, Wednesday Oct 7th, 2009
- 08:30-12:00 Alliant Energy-Lee Liu Auditorium, Howe Hall
- 12:00-1:00 Lunch, Howe Hall Atrium
- 1:00-4:00 Breakout sessions 2035, 2011, 2004 Black Engineering
- 4:00-5:00 Alliant Energy-Lee Liu Auditorium, Howe Hall
Detailed schedule
Complex fluid systems encompass non Newtonian, multiphase, turbulent, and/or chemically reacting flows over multiple length and time scales. Typical applications include fluidized beds, sediment transport in atmosphere and ocean, granular flow of biomass, polymers, sprays, materials processing, soft matter
This workshop will bring together ISU researchers with interests in CFS to establish collaborations and pursue large collaborative research funding opportunities
Outcomes:
- Identify main research thrust areas for CFS based on ISU expertise
- Targeted proposal development
- Develop a portfolio of ISU expertise in CFS
- Provide a forum for CFS researchers to interact; develop a center or consortium
How to participate:
- Respond to requests for identifying research areas of interest to enable workshop objectives
- Identify areas where the participant can make significant contributions
- Provide comments and participate in website discussion leading up to the workshop
- Participate in the workshop and contribute to the portfolio
