The American Solar Challenge Checkpoint Community Showcase is a free public event on July 26 from 1-4 p.m. It will showcase the community through clubs, organizations and companies, and also highlight the American Solar Challenge race passing through Ames. This is a competition where college teams design, build and drive solar powered cars in a cross-country time/distance rally. Iowa State’s own Team PrISUm will be competing in this national race. Ames was selected as a checkpoint, which means these cars and their teams will be required to stop here as they make their way from Omaha to La Crosse. Enjoy fun activities from Iowa State University and community organizations. Location is the D2 parking lot north of Jack Trice Stadium.
